Information we handle
When you visit, our website and hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, pages requested, and request times to deliver the site, maintain security, and troubleshoot problems. We use a cookie to remember your 18+ confirmation for about 30 days. WordPress uses a cookie to remember entry to the password-protected Members page. Members polls use a browser token cookie for up to one year to prevent repeat votes and to link your vote to that browser; the stored vote uses a hashed token rather than your name. Cookies must be enabled to vote and use member features.
If you vote, we store the poll, choice, hashed browser identifier, and vote time. If you comment, we store the display name you choose (or “Anonymous”), your comment or reply, its time and status, and a hashed request identifier. Comments are visible to other people who have member access unless hidden by moderation. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in a comment. We use a short-lived hashed browser record to limit rapid repeat comments.
At launch, visitors do not need to register an individual account or pay through this site. If you email us, we process the address and message you send so we can respond.
How we use and share information
We use this information to operate the site, remember access choices, run polls and comments, prevent duplicate voting and abuse, answer requests, and maintain security. Our hosting provider processes the technical information needed to serve the site. Links to external sites, including story editions hosted elsewhere, take you to services with their own privacy practices.
The administrator uses Google Calendar to track public chapter release times and prepare matching Reddit posts. The publishing tool sends the story title, chapter number, public story link, and scheduled release time to the administrator’s Google Calendar. It stores Google authorization credentials in the site’s protected WordPress database. This integration does not send member passwords, poll votes, visitor comments, or visitor identities to Google Calendar, and it does not publish to Reddit automatically.
Retention and your choices
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the relevant feature, handle requests, maintain security, or meet applicable obligations. You can clear site cookies in your browser; this may remove member access or prevent voting until the necessary cookie is set again. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we can reasonably identify as yours by emailing chatkink568@gmail.com. We may need information to verify a request, and some records may need to be retained where the law permits or requires it.
Our hosting and third-party providers may process information outside South Africa. We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first. You may also contact the South African Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
